At both the State and regional level, weeds are a key threat to biodiversity values and have significant economic and social costs. The annual economic cost of weeds in SA is at least $800m per annum excluding ecological and social costs. SAMRIC is currently working with the Department for Water Land and Biodiversity Conservation (DWLBC), the South Australian Murray-Darling Basin NRM Board (SA MDBNRM Board) and the Riverland Local Action Planning (LAP) groups to help further educate volunteers and landholders about weed identification, control and mapping.
